i find none of their arguments compelling.
gerrymandering? of course there is. i’m not disputing that. that’s not a good enough reason not to vote – in fact, voting in gerrymandered districts provides data points that prove that the gerrymandering skews election results.
both parties are the same? ……….lol no they’re not next
the revolution is they only way? i mean yeah maybe, but like. we gotta fucking stay alive in the meantime, you know? so vote someone into office and then immediately protest them when they fuck up, because they work for you
also like. all those “don’t bother voting” arguments are only about candidates. did you all forget about ballot measures? initiatives? referendums? actual laws that voters consider, as opposed to just candidates? like? “we want a direct voice in our government” lol it’s right fucking there? there’s i think ten potential new laws on the california midterm ballot like?
